What is a Rainbow Baby?

A Rainbow Baby is a baby who is welcomed into a family after they have experienced a loss due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or neonatal death.

It is the understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravage of the storm. When a rainbow appears, it doesn't mean that the storm never happened or that the family is not still dealing with its aftermath. What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds.

Lost Adventurers Photography is proud to announce a project that is very dear to my heart! My own twins were very sick when they were born prematurely at 36 weeks and so they were in NICU for the first weeks of their life. I saw and got to know many parents on the ward and shared their pain and anxiety as their baby battles and got well and then got sick again. Because of the extreme heartache and sadness I felt, not just for the families I have photographed, but for all families that have to experience the pain of a loss, I have decided to offer free 'Rainbow Baby' newborn sessions to deserving families expecting a rainbow baby who would otherwise not be able to have photos taken.

Aside from being a professional photographer, I am also a volunteer photographer for Remember My Baby, a non-profit organization operating in the UK by volunteer photographers who provide free professional portraits to families suffering a stillbirth or early infant loss. 

One newborn session will be gifted per month to eligible families. These sessions will take place within 2 weeks of the birth for Newborns or at any age for older babies under 12 months  at my studio located in Girton, Cambridge. Please apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment, the earlier the better! Please also allow a minimum of 4 weeks prior to your due date to be considered. I also accept nominations/applications from friends and family members. 
 

The 'Rainbow Baby' package includes:
*1-2 hour newborn or 1 hour baby session at my studio
*2 rainbow themed set-ups and 1 non-themed set-up
*8 fully edited digital images
*1-11x14 print of your choice
*Half off Sitter, ONE year/cake smash session or 18 month family session (optional)

Additional prints, canvases, wall art and digital images can be purchased for 10% off regular price. This is not mandatory and there will be no hard sell!

Rainbow Baby Sebastian 11 months

Sebastians mum Kathryn sent me a message to apply for my Rainbow gift session. I offer one session every month to rainbow babies that are under 12 months. Little Sebastian was 11 months and so we decided to create some beautiful birthday portraits. Mum choose a classic 1 year birthday protrait session and so we decided to design a simple setup in greys and blues to highlight his beautiful face. Isnt he just the cutest?
